Founder - Darnella Ford

"The magic began ten years ago but it didn't look like magic in those days. Alone, I had made the choice to move forward with an unplanned pregnancy," recalls Ford. "The thrill of being a mother lasted about 48 hours...that's short term inspiration for a lifetime assignment." Welcome to the world of a single mother.

"It was the ultimate juggling act where there was no time for a nervous breakdown though I desperately wanted to schedule one in."

"For the first several weeks, I coaxed myself into believing 2 a.m. feedings, sleep deprivation, doctor visits, justifications to my job as to why I had to call off work again; bills, debt and escalating financial issues were simply part of my life. But eventually, I came to discover the brutal truth-this was my life-and somehow I had been squeezed out of it. When did I consent to disappear? I didn't remember signing on for invisibility. Depressed and contemplating suicide, I decided to pick up my childhood dream-become a published novelist."

"I began writing at age 9, was a published poet by age 12 and was on staff for a daily newspaper at the age of 16 in Phoenix , Arizona, contributing as a columnist and feature writer. Yet, somehow I had managed to grow up and get lost chasing myself somewhere between puberty and menopause."

"I began writing my first novel by hand when my daughter was just six weeks old, and though progress seemed miniscule, I devoted every day of my lunch hour at the real estate office where I worked-to my dream."

"The first draft of my novel would take nearly three years to complete, and once com- plete, it would take another 4 years to find its way to National release. But it did and seven years later, I was standing in the middle of Barnes & Noble in Encino, California staring at my debut novel, Rising, on the new release table."

"I will never forget that moment," Ford remembers tearfully. "It was magical and as I stood in Barnes & Noble in awe of this dream-seven years in the making - I remember thinking...I want every single mother in the world to know what a moment like this feels like...it's magical...I can't capture it in words....you have to live it to know it."

A greater dream was born but it would take another four years to find the courage to breathe it into life. Ford became deeply inspired after attending The School of Ancient Wisdom in Yelm, Washington. "Studying under Ascended Master, Ramtha The Enlightened One, I started dreaming a bigger dream. I began to step outside into the realm of the impossible...and Be Magic Inc., was born. It honors the extraordinary in all of us...especially the forgotten."
