Could anyone tell me where I could find an automatic toilet seat with a rechargeable battery?
I’ve heard that automatic toilet seats are a very hygienic solution (especially against bacteria), and I’d like to know more about it. I also heard those seats use a lot of power, so it seems it is better to opt for a seat with a rechargeable battery system rather than with alcaline batteries.
Does anyone know more about how it works and how hygienic it actually is? Maybe someone already tried it? Any product suggestions which might the “rechargeable battery” criteria?

I saw such a seat, where there is a plastic sleeve covering the toilet ring. The automated system actually provides the user with a new fresh sleeve to sit on before he sits down, and that portion is guaranteed to be new (i.e. nobody ever sat on it before you), because it is destroyed by the system immediately after being used.
You might understand it better if you go on their site (www.interhygiene.com). They say:
“A continuous film of transparent plastic covers the seat, securing perfectly hygienic skin protection for each individual session. The plastic film is renewed upon pressing a button.”
I tried it myself in a restaurant, and must admit I was feeling quite “safe” while sitting, because I activated the system myself, so I had the proof that the sleeve was being completely replaced.
I think this is an excellent solution for a better hygiene, by the way, at least for public places like restaurants, hotels, bars, shopping centers, medical places or even in administrations!! I’d like to see it wherever I go!
Regarding the criteria of “rechargeable battery”, that is the only seat I found with this feature. I guess the trend anyway goes in that direction as businesses make their purchase decisions always more for renewable energy solutions. The InterHygiene site talks about 2000 sittings per charge – Sounds like a large number of users without recharging the battery!
